Welcome
Welcome to the homepage of Professor Charles Spillane’s AgriBiosciences, Food Security & Climate Resilience Lab.
Our research group conducts interdisciplinary research and innovation activities in AgriBiosciences, Food Security & Climate Resilience, particularly focused on sustainable development with partners in developing countries.
The SpillaneLab is highly interdisciplinary spanning expertise in molecular genetics, crop science, crop science, biotechnology, GIS & remote sensing, climate smart agriculture, digital agriculture, food systems, participatory research, nutrition, social inclusion and food security. Our group employs research and innovation approaches across multiple disciplines to generate outcomes and impacts on food security, livelihoods, climate resilience and sustainability (particularly in relation to climate smart agriculture and food systems). Our group also has research activities on policy and institutional innovations, particularly in relation to the application of science and technologies for meeting sustainable development needs in developing countries.
Prof. Spillane’s research group collaborates extensively with leading agricultural research for development technical and policy organisations worldwide, including Research Centres of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), FAO, IFAD and the World Bank.
Enquiries to join our team are welcome from highly motivated and talented researchers worldwide who consider they can contribute high quality, robust and impactful research in any discipline to the mission of the SpillaneLab, namely to conduct agriculture and food systems oriented research and innovation that can improve livelihoods, sustainability and social inclusion.
Prof. Spillane welcomes enquiries from researchers interested to join his research group, and also from any research groups or organisations that may be keen to engage in partnerships or collaborative research with the SpillaneLab.
